DAYTONA BEACH, Fla—Daytona Prototypes were once again the fastest cars around Daytona International Speedway’s 3.56-mile road course with five “Corvette” DPs and two Riley-Fords filling the top seven spots in the final practice session before Saturday’s TUSC Rolex 24 at Daytona.

The #90 Spirit of Daytona Racing Coyote Corvette was again the quickest of the DPs, followed by the #99 Gainsco Riley-Corvette and the # 5 Action Express Coyote-Corvette.

The two Telcel-Ganassi Riley-Fords finished fourth and fifth, their reliability issues apparently rectified. (MSR, the other Ford team, had to change an engine Thursday night.)

The three quickest P2 cars—The Muscle Milk Oreca-Nissan, ESM HPD-Honda, and Oak Racing Morgan-Nissan—were 1.4–1.7 seconds off the pace. Much of that difference can probably be attributed to the speed advantage the more powerful DPs have on the high banking which makes up half the course.

In GTLM, the #62 Risi Ferrari 458 topped the timesheet, followed by the #911 Porsche North America RSR and the #3 Corvette racing C7.R
