[xtypo_dropcap]T[/xtypo_dropcap]he Spill Into Washington rally is seeing demonstrators protesting against BP and what they say were “regulatory failures” that contributed to the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, over the Labor Day weekend.

Spill Into Washington rally participants are also honoring the lives lost in the Deepwater Horizon oil rig explosion that began the oil spill, as well as the land and sea directly impacted by the oil.

“The quest for oil has influenced international relations to the extent of war,” reads an announcement on the rally organizers' website. “We will tell our government and the corporate world that we will not stand idly by while the powerful spin our world out of control.”

The rally is taking place at Lafayette Park in Washington, D.C. from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday and at Washington Mall from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Labor Day.
