South West Trains officials have warned of potential severe disruptions amid winds exceeding 60mph on Monday in the United Kingdom.

“There is a very high possibility of severe disruption throughout the afternoon of Monday 23 December,” reads a statement from the operator, according to ITV.

“This may mean that some trains may have to run at significantly reduced speeds, altered or cancelled. An amended train timetable may be used in place of the current timetable,” it reads.

A South West Trains train struck a tree downed on a railway in Tolworth, it was reported.

The Kingston Guardian reported that the train was coming from London Waterloo going to Chessington South when it hit a tree at around 1 p.m. local time.

The tree became lodged under the train but it was later remove. The train was then deemed fine to keep going.

Several other trees have been cleared from railways.
