Just a few episodes of Sons of Anarchy are left, and Katey Sagal says that the upcoming season 7 and series finale will satisfy fans.
“Kurt [Sutter] was trying to approach it like any other episode, where the story keeps going,” Sagal told TVLine.
“It was very satisfying filming it, and I will say that for Charlie [Hunnam] and myself. And it’ll be really great for fans. I don’t think they’ll be disappointed at all.”
Sagal couldn’t reveal details but did say that the anticipated showdown between Jax and Gemma is on its way, either happening in the finale or happening just prior and its impact spilling over into the last episode.
“Lots of tears were shed” while filming the tense mother-son scenes, Sagal said.
She added that Gemma doesn’t have any animosity toward Abel for spilling the beans. “How can she do anything but forgive him?” she said.
As for the murder and coverup, Sagal wasn’t sure what should happen to Gemma.
“This is what’s interesting about denial. You wonder what the psychology is of somebody who’s done heinous things. How far can we hide that from ourselves? And would Gemma actually be able to? I don’t know,” she said.
“It’s gone so far that, to me, either way is horrible. But people do do heinous things and continue to have lives.”
Theo Rossi (Juice) recently told Variety that he’s surprised to be one of the last men standing on the show.
“You go back to the beginning, and if you told me that Ron Perlman and all these people would be gone, then I would have said, ‘Well, obviously, we’re not on the air anymore,'” he said.
“I think the brilliance of ‘Sons of Anarchy’ is this world Kurt Sutter’s created.”
The finale, episode 13, is slated to air on Tuesday, December 9.
