Danielle Bradbery, winner of “The Voice” season 4, is the voice behind the Sochi Winter Olympics theme song.
Bradbery first sung “My Day” on “The Voice” season 5 finale in December, to a montage of Olympic hopefuls competing as well as highlights of the last Winter Olympics.
The song comes from songwriter Mallary Hope, who said that she is “so excited and thankful” that her song is the theme song for the Olympics.
“When I wrote this song 5 years ago and recorded it, I told everyone I knew that if I ever got the chance to make a video I could see the vision in my head of what I would want,” Hope told her fans on Facebook. “I wanted to incorporate scenes from The biggest loser, breast cancer walks, soldiers returning home from war, kids graduating & yes even the Olympics. I tried, but couldn’t bring my dreams to reality now I understand why. It wasn’t meant for me.. It wasn’t (yes wait for it) ‘My Day’ it is her day. It is pretty amazing how someone else can help make your dreams come true. Even after you thought your moment had passed. So very very happy at this moment.”
NBC said that the song “captures the inspirational message of the Olympic Games.”
It is featured in ad campaigns across the NBC networks leading into the Olympics, which begins on February 9.
