Pictures purportedly showing snow in Florida on January 28 or January 27, 2014 are actually from 2010.
The origin of the photos are unclear but they have been circulating on blogs and other websites--usually without credit--for several years.
One of the photos has been circulating far and wide since being shared on Monday, including being used on a Fox17 report about snow in Florida.
The Fox News report notes that the sign is from 2010, claiming that it is “a pre-cursor to what may be coming.”
The practice of posting an old picture like this to illustrate that it may snow in Florida is not typically used in news reports and may have fooled some people.
At the same time, the National Weather Service has forecasted snow for some of the Florida panhandle on Tuesday and Wednesday.
