A threat allegedly made by a teenager on Snapchat has led to the teen being arrested and charged Monday, Jan. 29.
Officers were called to a home on Monday after a mother reported her children had received the threatening messages. The children knew the suspect.
“Officers conducted an investigation which resulted in charges being accepted by the Brazoria County DA’s Office against a 14-year-old male student for terroristic threat. The juvenile student was taken into custody and transported to the Brazoria County Juvenile Detention Facility,” the police department stated, according to KHOU.
“Campus and district administration were made aware last night of a threat against Berry Miller Junior High made by a student on social media. The student has been identified and will not be at school,” the letter stated.
“The police are investigating at this time and will be present at the school today to reassure parents and students. Administrators and counselors will be available to students for questions and support.”
It has not been released whether the suspect attended Barry Miller Junior High or not.
