Snapchat Founder Evan Spiegel Proposes to Miranda Kerr
Congratulations are in order for Snapchat co-founder Evan Spiegel and Miranda Kerr—the couple are engaged.
The Victoria’s Secret model confirmed the news on July 20 on another social media platform, Instagram. Kerr uploaded a photo of a bitmoji of herself and a kneeling Spiegel with the words “Marry Me!” written across a black and white photograph of her engagement ring. She captioned the photo, “I said yes!!!”
After meeting at a Louis Vuitton dinner in 2014, Kerr and the 26-year-old billionaire began dating soon afterward.
“Miranda is so excited to be engaged to Evan. She can’t wait to marry him… Once they get married they will start trying for children. That’s something they both want,” an insider told E!News. “Evan surprised her when he proposed. It was done in a very romantic setting and he said very touching words while asking her.”
“He’s 25, but he acts like he’s 50,” the 33-year-old said in January. “He’s not out partying. He goes to work in Venice [Beach], he comes home. We don’t go out. We’d rather be at home and have dinner, go to bed early.”
She added, “But in some ways he does [feel like a younger man]. I’m telling you, I’ve got the best of both worlds.”
Spiegel is seven years Kerr’s junior.
This is the second marriage for Kerr, who was previously married to actor Orlando Bloom. The former couple share 5-year-old son Flynn.
Spiegel created Snapchat while he was a student at Stanford University, along with Bobby Murphy and Reggie Brown.
The picture messaging and multimedia mobile app boasts 1.65 billion users, according to Bloomberg. The application is used by Michelle Obama, Chrissy Teigen, Jennifer Lopez, and a host of other celebrities.
