Peel Regional Police are investigating after they say six high schools were named in shooting threats posted online.

Police say the threats indicate someone intends to attend the six high schools on Friday and “shoot them up.”

Investigators were made aware of the threats against the schools in Brampton and Mississauga, Ont., on March 2.

Police say they, along with the school boards, take the threats seriously and have been working on safety plans.

Peel police say the six schools are Holy Name of Mary Secondary School, Louise Arbour Secondary School, St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School, Notre Dame Secondary School, Chinguacousy Secondary School and Ascension of Our Lord Secondary School.

Police say they are working to identify those responsible.
