The U.S. has charged six Colombians with the murder of a Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) agent James “Terry” Watson Thursday, it was reported.
Reuters reported the U.S. Department of Justice said that a federal grand jury indicted the Colombians.
Watson was kidnapped and stabbed in a taxi in Bogota last month.
He later succumbed to his injuries in a hospital.
Watson, 43, was in Colombia for around a year in the half. Michael McKinley, U.S. Ambassador to Colombia, told Fox News that Watson went out to eat and watch the NBA Finals game when he was kidnapped and killed.
“We are all saddened by this devastating loss of a member of the DEA family,” DEA Administrator Michele M. Leonhart said in a press release last month.
He added: “Terry was a brave and talented DEA Special Agent who served our agency for 13 years. These are the worst days for anyone in law enforcement and we grieve Terry’s loss.”
