Paul Young, a U.K. singer best known for “Everytime You Go Away,” announced that his wife Stacey died after a two-year battle with brain cancer, according to reports.
Stacey, a 52-year-old former model, died at her home along with her family, including her four children, Young said on Twitter.
A statement from the star’s publicist also said, “The singer Paul Young has announced that his wife, Stacey Young, sadly passed away today after a two-year fight with brain cancer,” Sky News reported. “Stacey died peacefully at home surrounded by family, friends, and her four children: Levi, Layla, Grady, and Jude.”
“The family respectfully ask for privacy at this time.”

The couple got married in 1987 and had three children together.
Young said earlier this year that his wife had to be “pretty strong” to marry a pop star. “There was no point Stacey was saying, ‘Wait until your father gets home’ as that could be three months as I was always away,” he said, according to Eyewitness News. “I did take a bit of a break from touring when Levi was born as I felt I wanted to be home with them, but then I went back to it.”
And he said that the couple made their marriage last, defying expectations.
Speaking in February of last year, he recalled: “Ten years ago, Stacey and I split up as things weren’t working for either of us but then three years later we got back together again. I know of other people who have got back together and it hasn’t lasted, but we have kept at it.”
“During the split, Stacey had a son, Jude, who is now 10. He lives with us, as well as spending time with his dad. Jude adores his older brother and sisters and always gets so excited when Grady is coming home from university.”
