Rachelle Louise, Simon Gittany’s girlfriend, said she will only stay with Gittany for five years and then she plans to move on and start a family of her own.
Gittany was sentenced to a minimum 18 years in prison after getting convicted of hurling his former girlfriend Lisa Harnum off the balcony of his apartment in Sydney, Australia.
Louise wasn’t at the sentencing last week although she was a mainstay at the trial, insisting that Gittany was innocent.
A rumor going around outlined an alleged $150,000 deal with Channel Seven if she stayed away from the sentencing and gave the broadcaster an exclusive interview.
Instead, she told Channel Seven that she simply didn’t want to go.
“I think he will be so upset that I didn’t go. But you know what? I supported him every single day he went,” she said.
“Just today was about me. I didn’t want to go.”
“I have never once ever, ever, ever, doubted his innocence,” she added.
She also emphasized that she’s not going to wait that long for Gittany.
“Right now I said he’s got five years,” she said.
She said that she'll continue fighting to clear Gittany’s name, including utilizing the website she started, www.freesimon.com.au.
And Louise said that she too has been subject to death threats and insults.
“When I went to see Simon the first time in prison I said to him if it’s any consolation, I walk through the fire with you.”
