Simon Andrews, a professional motorcycle racer from Worcestershire, died after crashing during the North West 200 road race in Northern Ireland. Andrews, 31, died later at the Belfast Royal Victoria hospital on Monday.
Andrews’ parents, Stuart and Dee Andrews were with him at the hospital at the time.
“He has had a motorbike since he was four years old and started racing when he was 16,“ said Andrews’ father, according to The Guardian. ”...His mum and I are very proud of his racing achievements,” he continued.
The course of North West 200 runs on public roads that connect the towns of Portstewart, Coleraine, and Portrush into a triange. It is one of the fastest in the world with speeds reaching over 200 mph.
