Shortened links being shared on Twitter on Tuesday evening are being marked “spammy,” “unsafe,” or “malware,” depending on the link shortener and the browser the person is using.

The problem appears to primarily be impacting bit.ly links but may be impacting other shortened links as well.

People are responding on Twitter with anger.

“Twitter objected to my sending something from Breitbart calling it ”spammy“!!!!!!!!!!” said Jana Shellman.

“Twitter just chastised me for tweeting the article: ‘Link appears to have spammy or unsafe content.’ A few bad jokes -- MAYBE, Twitter,” said Jason Haver.

“Why are you posting messages for conservative news sites as spammy and unsafe?” wondered LibertyGirl NH.

While this reporter had multiple shortened links deemed “spammy” or “unsafe,” on a second try, the links went through.

Twitter has so far not given any indication it is aware of the problem.
