Two people were shot in Louisville’s Buechel neighborhood on Thursday, Feb. 1, according to a MetroSafe supervisor.

An incident was reported to MetroSafe at around 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Derby and Carey avenues, reported WDRB.

President of Louisville Metro Council, David James, said a Louisville Metro Police officer was shot in the head, but was awake and talking when he was transported to the hospital.

He added that the officer is expected to be okay, reported WKYT.

Gov. Matt Bevin said in a Twitter post on Feb. 1 that the suspect was killed.

There is no official confirmation as to the officer’s condition, however, a WLKY reporter saw the Louisville mayor coming out of the hospital saying that “we got lucky today.”

The Kentucky Attorney General, Andy Beshear, has sent his prayers to the police officer who got shot.

This is a developing story. A police briefing is expected to take place soon.
