Shooting Suspect Arrested, No Injuries, at Columbus, Ohio School

COLUMBUS, Ohio—Police said they arrested a suspect and recovered a gun on Friday after a shooter was reported at a Columbus, Ohio, school. No injuries were reported.

“All students are accounted for,” the city’s police department reported on Facebook.

“The school is being searched. (One) suspect was arrested, the gun taken, no injuries reported.”

School officials said they had placed Columbus Scioto 6-12 school on lockdown during the incident which lasted less than 30 minutes.

CBS News reported that officers are asking people to stay away from the school.

Columbus police wrote on Twitter that the department’s SWAT team made an arrest and took a gun.

Columbus schools said that students and staff were safe.

Franklin County sheriff’s spokesman Marc Gofstein told an affiliate, WXPI, that students and teachers at the school were evacuated off campus. 

According to the district’s website, the Columbus Scioto school “serves students challenged by emotional disturbances.”
