Shocking Video Shows Mattresses Cut Open to Reveal Illegal Immigrants

A viral video is being shared on social media shows a daring attempt to fool border authorities along the border dividing Europe and Africa.

The footage shows authorities cutting open two mattresses to reveal illegal immigrants hidden inside. Border guards found them at a checkpoint between Melilla, a Spanish enclave on the north African coast, and Morocco.

The footage has circulated worldwide and created a stir because of the novelty of the smuggling tactic.

The video shows men in Guardia Civil uniforms removing the mattresses from the top of a police vehicle and setting them down on the ground.

The authorities then take knives and cut open the mattresses one at a time to reveal migrants inside.

The two migrants appear to be young male Africans and look confused as to where they are.

The footage was shared by Spanish senator Jon Inarritu on his Twitter page. The senator claimed that the European Union should provide places for migrants to request asylum.

“As long as there are no safe routes to request asylum, situations like this will continue to occur in the southern border of Europe,” he said, reported the Daily Mail. The driver of the vehicle used to transport the mattresses to the checkpoint fled into Morocco and was not detained.

Melilla and another Spanish enclave, Ceuta, have the European Union’s only land border with Africa, which alongside the Middle East has been the source of millions of migrants, many of them Muslim, coming into the European Union in the last several years. More than a million arrived in 2015 alone.

A number of countries in the union have started to refuse large-scale migration due to an increasing number of violent crimes perpetrated by migrants.

Violent crime rose by about 10 percent in Germany in 2015 and 2016, according to a study, and more than 90 percent of the crime increase was due to young male migrant criminals, reported Reuters.

Surveysand pollsin European countries routinely show the public is mostly against unchecked immigration.

Knife Attack at Manchester Train Station Leaves 3 Wounded

A knife-wielding man stabbed three peopleat Manchester’s Victoria Station in a horrifying attack on New Year’s Eve, according to local reports.

At 8:52 p.m. local time, the British Transport Police received a call of a man with a knife in the station.

It has since been confirmed that an officer and a man and woman in their 50s were stabbed on the train platform by the suspect who was wielding a “long knife,” according to the Greater Manchester Police (GMP).

A witness heard the suspect shout “Allah,” the Arabic word for God, after he stabbed them, according to The Sun.

The victims have been taken to hospital with knife injuries and the suspect has been detained and questioned on suspicion of attempted murder, according to the police.

The man sustained injuries to his abdomen while the woman sustained injuries to both her face and abdomen. The BTP officer sustained a stab wound to the shoulder. The GMP said in a press release that while the injuries were serious to all victims, they were not life-threatening.
