TOLEDO, Ohio—“This is done at a very high level, a very high level,” said Mr. Allan Block. Mrs. Susan Block agreed and said, “The quality of the dancing! It’s amazing!” The Chairman of Block Communications and his wife joined the highly appreciative audience welcoming the return of Shen Yun Performing Arts to the Stranahan Theater Sunday afternoon, March 18.

Shen Yun Performing Arts Touring Company continued the Midwest leg of its US tour before traveling to Washington, D.C.

While presenting the old, Shen Yun has created something new. An integral part of Shen Yun’s theatrical display of classical Chinese culture, digital backdrops bring scenes from 5,000 years of history to the modern stage. State-of-the-art technology is used to depict the natural world as well as ancient Chinese art, including classical Chinese gardens and the heavenly scenes often portrayed in Buddhist paintings.

Mr. Block was impressed and said, “I thought the special effects with the video and the performers jumping onto the screen and then onto the stage from the video—I just thought it was well done.”

Shen Yun artists present both story-based performances depicting ancient Chinese legends and folk dances that reveal the depth of classical Chinese culture.

Mr. Block had high praise for the artists, and said, “The quality of the dancing! Very high quality.”

Mrs. Block agreed, and added, “The quality of the dancing is amazing. I would say that it’s exciting, moving, artistic and creative!”

In parting, Mrs. Block wished to thank the artists and producers of the show for coming to Toledo, “Thank you very much! We are very lucky to have it in Toledo!”

Mr. Allan Block is Chairman of Block Communications (also known as Blade Communications), a holding company with various media assets: the Toledo Blade, WT05 Toledo, WLIO Lima, the Pittsburgh Press.
