FORT WORTH, Texas—Project manager Jeff Swain had an eye-opening night at the sold-out performance of Shen Yun Performing Arts at Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth, Texas on Feb. 20.

“Is been quite a unique experience. I have never really witnessed anything like it,” Mr. Swain said.

The New York-based dancers perform classical Chinese dance and ethnic and folk dances. Mr. Swain was intrigued with the dancers’ different “facial expressions, the actions, the different moves that they are making.”

Classical Chinese dance has soaked up wisdom from every era and dynasty, boasting a “long history of thousands of years, passed down continuously within the imperial palace and ancient Chinese theater and opera,” according to Shen Yun’s website.

“They represent history and how it is portrayed to us,” Mr. Swain said.

Mr. Swain said the show was not only very educational from a historical perspective, but touching in its aesthetics as well.

“The costumes, they are very unique,” Mr. Swain said of the elaborate handmade costumes worn by the performers.
