KITCHENER-WATERLOO, Canada—Shen Yun Performing Arts played to a full house on its opening night at the Centre in the Square theatre on Wednesday Jan. 6.

Mr. Paupst, CEO of a security systems manufacturing company, attended the show with his wife.

“I think it is absolutely amazing, spectacular!” Mr. Paupst exclaimed.

He applauded the emcees for their introductions to each performance and said the show is very different from the ones he has experienced before.

“There is enough variety from act to act, it’s just dynamic, everybody should be able to see it.”

In addition to the breathtaking dance and music performances, Mr. Paupst said the digital backdrop “struck me pretty dramatically.”

Shen Yun uses state-of-the art animated backdrops in all of its performances, enhancing the audience experience and taking them to another world.

“To be able to give the impression that this is truly a 3 dimensional set, I mean we know it’s 2-D but its giving the impression of 3-D, I think that’s phenomenal!”

Mr. Paupst also noted the high resolution on the backdrops and awed at the detail and great art that has gone into creating the animated scenes.

Besides the stunning beauty, Mr. Paupst also found an emotional aspect in the show.

“I think the emotional part is one of peacefulness, spirituality, the seeking of a new way that is a non-violent way,” he said.

“There is a certain calm spiritual [aspect] at the conscious and sub-conscious levels.”

Commenting on the music played by Shen Yun’s live orchestra, which combines classical Western and traditional Chinese instruments, Mr. Paupst said the music was well-arranged with the show on stage.

“I would recommend it to anybody who has the chance to see it.”

Mrs. Paupst who also greatly enjoyed the show said it is “very beautiful.”

“I am finding the music beautiful, … and I am loving the background, and the dancers are lovely, very accomplished,” she said.

Shen Yun will perform two more shows in Kitchener-Waterloo before making its way to Ottawa for three shows there.
