MESA, Ariz.—Clothing designer Joan Beerman was excited to attend the evening performance of Shen Yun Performing Arts at the Ikeda Theater in the Mesa Arts Center on March 2.

“I was there last year when they performed. I am here this year. I will be here next year,” said Ms. Beerman. “There is no show like this show.”

Ms. Beerman loved every minute of Shen Yun. “It’s incredible,” she said. “The props, the scenery, the costumes, the dancing, it’s phenomenal.”

When Ms. Beerman was younger, she was a ballerina and participated in gymnastics. She has been to many parts of Asia, and she loves Chinese culture, so she felt she could relate to the performance in many ways.

There was not one thing about Shen Yun that Ms. Beerman did not like. She tried, but could not even name a favorite part of the performance. She loved it all. “Everything about it, they are so perfect. They are so creative and different,” she said.

“What can I tell you? It’s a wonderful show,” said Ms. Beerman. “Everything was phenomenal. You just can’t beat this show.”

New York-based Shen Yun’s website states, “In 2006, a group of leading classical Chinese artists came together in New York with one wish: to revive the true, divinely inspired culture of China and share it with the world.”

“A Shen Yun performance features the world’s foremost classically trained dancers, a unique orchestra blending East and West, and dazzling animated backdrops—together creating one spectacular performance,” states the website.

Ms. Beerman urged Shen Yun to cover the entire United States so everyone would get a chance to see a performance. “Everyone has to come see this show. Whoever comes here, whichever state you go to, they all have to see it. It is so spectacular.”

“It’s the best show I’ve ever seen,” said Ms. Beerman.
