CANBERRA, Australia—Mrs. Li, from southern China, recently came to Australia to visit relatives for a month. She had long heard of Shen Yun Performing Arts’ excellent reputation, so on the evening of Feb. 16, she traveled from Melbourne to Australia’s capital, a seven-hour car trip, to the second show at Canberra Theatre.
The New York-based company’s mission is to revive 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture through dance and music, much of which has been destroyed during the past several decades due to communist rule.
