NASHVILLE, Tenn.—A former ballet dancer found Shen Yun Performing Arts International Company “incredible to watch.”

Ms. Dawn Kessler attended an afternoon performance with her father at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center on Feb. 17.

Shen Yun is based in New York, and was founded with the mission to revive traditional Chinese culture.

Ms. Kessler said since she knows from her own experience about the difficulty of learning dance techniques, she was impressed with the skill of the dancers.

Classical Chinese dance, Shen Yun’s distinct feature, is considered one of the most complex dance systems in the world.

“Other than complete training in the fundamentals, it also entails systematic training in movements and postures, as well as very difficult jumping and tumbling techniques,” says the Shen Yun website.

Ms. Kessler had a message for the dancers: “They are doing a great job, their technique is phenomenal.”

Mr. Bruce Kessler, an attorney, appreciated the variety of where the dancers and musicians come from. He liked that Shen Yun includes dances from China’s many ethnic groups, and he enjoyed the diverse dance vocabulary. He called the performance very delightful.
