BRISBANE, Australia—Golden rays of light fall softly on the snow white clouds of a distant paradise, revealing Shen Yun Performing Arts Touring Company had taken centre stage at the riverside Lyric Theatre.
“It was fantastic. When the curtain opened [on] the first scene, tears came to my eyes,” said Wendy Fishlock, talking during the intermission. “The colours were so beautiful and vivid. It was very nice—very emotional.”
Mrs. Fishlock oversees travel for the Queensland Government. She attended the Saturday, Feb. 2 matinee session with her husband, Gerry Fishlock, a high-performance safety adviser for Queensland Rail.
Shen Yun Performing Arts was founded in New York in 2006 with a mission to reclaim and renew the true, divinely inspired cultural heritage of China, the program explains. The company has brought together world-class dancers, choreographers, singers, and musicians from around the globe, creating an all-new production every year that offers audiences an experience they will always remember.
Mr. Fishlock appreciated the many aspects the performance had to offer.
“It’s great to see the different areas of China with the different dances and so forth in the show,” he said.
Mrs. Fishlock agreed. “Regions more so, different regions was a nice aspect of it, not just the dynasties, but the regions.”
With state-of-the-art graphics technology, Shen Yun’s digital backdrops create vividly animated settings, extending the stage and transporting the audience to a world where heaven and earth are one.
“Oh, it’s excellent … ,” Mr. Fishlock said, and his wife finished the sentence, saying: “Oh, wow … wow. It’s like three dimensional with a kick.”
The couple also enjoyed the orchestral blend of Eastern and Western instruments, and the solo vocalists, in particular, “the lady singing, also, was a beautiful touch in between,” Mr. Fishlock said.
Mrs. Fishlock said she would tell others the show is “a definite must-see—definitely.” Mr. Fishlock chimed in: “Come and see it. Have an experience—it was lovely.”
