LAUSANNE, Switzerland—Shen Yun Performing Arts arrived in Switzerland for its first performance the March 26 in Lausanne at the Beaulieu Theatre.

Built in 1954, this prestigious theatre stands by the marvelous Lake Léman and has a beautiful view of Alps to the rear. The theatre is the largest in Switzerland.

Among those in attendance was Eric Boissard, Director of UBS Bank. Mr. Boissard said that he has been to China a few times, but that he really enjoyed this show in particular because it was as if he “had traveled a thousand years back in time” from just where he was seated.

He said he felt that he had not only traveled to the past, but also trough the entire country of China. “I really appreciate the landscapes shown on the screen with the view of South China, North China, and Tibet,” he said.

Shen Yun has a mission to restore and celebrate traditional Chinese culture through its use of ethnic dances and costumes, which represent the different cultures scattered throughout the ancient land.

Mr. Boissard said he could feel the weight of what the performance really represents. “This is a colorful version of real life, but it’s easy to sense the true spirit that’s contained within it,” he added.

He said that the music also stood out to him. “I really appreciate the joy found in the music,” he said.

But overall, he said he found the show unlike anything else in his own culture. “It was very invigorating,” with a special touch of “humor—a different kind of humor that we don’t see much in West!” he said.

New York-based Shen Yun Performing Arts has three touring companies that perform simultaneously around the world. For more information, visit ShenYunPerformingArts.org.
