BUENOS AIRES—World renowned Shen Yun Performing Art International Company’s classical Chinese dance and music presentation should be seen in all parts of the world, not just in Buenos Aires, according to one spectator.
Government official Eduardo Fa, who was with his wife Natalia Gutierrez at the Teatro Opera Citi on Dec. 15, said he had heard about the New York-based production, but never had a chance to see it.
However, after seeing the performance which has at heart to revive China’s 5,000 years of traditional culture, Mr. Fa said the show was remarkable.
“What I obtained was a great peace,” he said. “I truly leave with an enormous [sense of] peace, it did relax me quite a lot.”
Launched in 2006 by a group of artists—dancers, vocalists, musicians, choreographers, technicians—China’s divinely-inspired culture was all but destroyed by 60-plus years of communist rule, the company website explains.
Today, Shen Yun has grown to three performance companies and, in the not too distant future, expects to have many more companies touring around the world simultaneously.
“The level of production is very good and also it has a very high artistic level,” Mr. Fa said. “A show like this should be performed in any part of the world, not only in Buenos Aires.”
Sophisticated dance techniques, an orchestra joining instruments of the East and West, beautiful costumes, and a stunning back drop—this is Shen Yun at first glance.
Mr. Fa’s wife, Natalia Gutierrez, said of all the highlights, she enjoyed the array of colorful costumes spanning dynasties and vast ethnic and folk traditions.
“And as my husband said, we leave with much peace. Actually, everything was very good and we must recommend it. I hope it comes more often [to Buenos Aires].”
The couple both work for the Ministry of Culture of the Government of Buenos Aires City in Argentina.
