DALLAS—The matinee performance of Shen Yun Performing Arts New York Company in the Winspear Opera House continued to fascinate many families who came out to enjoy the show on Sunday afternoon, Dec. 18.

Among them were restaurant owners, Vera and Tyrous Ingram, who brought their three children with them. Mr. Tyrous felt great about the show, saying: “I thought it was wonderful and great for my kids to see different cultures, and this was definitely something worthwhile for them to see.”

Both sons, Harrison and William, really enjoyed The Monkey King. The Monkey King is one of the characters in Journey to the West, one of the four classics of Chinese literature. Written by the Ming Dynasty novelist Wu Cheng'en during the sixteenth century, this beloved and timeless adventure tale combines action, humor, and spiritual lessons that still captivate audiences of today.

Daughter Lauren commented: “My favorite part was the flower fairies and I just want the outfit!” Lauren joins many other audience members who often leave the show thinking, “I wish I could wear that!”

The Shen Yun costumes are one of the features that strike audience members the most. According to the company’s website, Shen Yun’s hundreds of gorgeous, hand-made garments, which span China’s dynasties, regions, and ethnic groups, have even inspired many fashion designers who come to see the show.
