SYDNEY, Australia—Eduardo Dutra Aydos, former political science professor, lawyer and author, brought his family of six to see Shen Yun Performing Arts Touring Company at the majestic Capitol Theatre on Feb. 12.
Based in New York, Shen Yun brings China’s 5,000-year-old traditional culture to the stage, portrayed by world-class singers, a full orchestra, and a company of classical Chinese dancers.
“It was a very nice show,” Mr. Aydos said. “What I could say is that the actors attempt to express the simplicity of technical perfection. So I am very glad to be here in this moment.”

Mr. Aydos is of Brazilian background. “If I could express with my poor English those sentiments I have attending this show, I say I hope that this spiritual tradition of 5,000 years of woman and man willing to fulfill its destiny with providence.”
Shen Yun Performing Arts endeavours to renew China’s ancient heritage through dance and music that is true to the culture’s deep spiritual essence, with its values of compassion, propriety, wisdom, honour, sincerity, and reverence for the divine.
Mr. Aydos said he saw three important issues presented in Shen Yun.
“The will of man, destiny—situations of people’s lives, and of course the providence, divine providence,” he said. “That’s what I feel is important in this very beautiful spectacle.”
Mr. Aydos is the author of A Normative Perspective on International Trade and Financing, written in English.
