DENVER—Coloradans welcomed prestigious Shen Yun Performing Arts as they presented the first of two shows in Denver. It didn’t take long for theatergoers to understand why Shen Yun’s performance is in a class by itself.

As the curtain rose to start the show, Steve Norman, manager of Architecture and Standards at Janus Capital Group, in Denver, was impressed with the “very stunning opening” of the show.

“With the drums and the fog on the stage, it was a big ‘Wow!’ at the beginning,” Mr. Norman said. He was referring to the opening act An Era Begins, described by Shen Yun’s program as “a regiment of celestial soldiers, preparing for a battle between good and evil.”

Mr. Norman was accompanied by his daughter Emma, who had a particular interest in the show related to her schooling. “I think it is really interesting because I’m in a Chinese language class, and it’s cool to learn a little bit more about the culture, and not just language,” the young lady said.

Dad Steve added that the show as “very colorful, very well choreographed; very nice.”

Denver lawyer Helen Shreves also paid notice to the choreography, saying the synchronized movements of the performers stood out.

“I’m very impressed with the precision … a beautiful precision. It appears they are very highly trained,” the attorney said.

Ms. Shreves was accompanied by Danny Poole, a yoga instructor who formerly worked with the Denver Broncos NFL team. With such experience, he commented on the dedication of Shen Yun performers in developing such precision.

“To train and practice, and [develop] the flexibility, takes a lot of discipline,” Mr. Poole said.

“It’s quite beautiful,” Ms. Shreves added.

Shen Yun Performing Arts Touring Company is performing at the Temple Hoyne Buell Theatre, part of the renowned Denver Performing Arts complex in downtown Denver.

This is the fifth consecutive year the show has performed in Denver.

Shen Yun Touring Company will be in Denver for one more performance on Feb. 23.
