DALLAS—Shen Yun Performing Arts made the perfect birthday present for Mrs. Peggy Anderson, who traveled with Mr. Andy Anderson from Oklahoma just to see the performance at the Winspear Opera House in Dallas on Jan. 2.
“We came down special just to see the show tonight,” Mr. Anderson said.
“We really enjoyed it, we really, really enjoyed it. Beautiful colors, dancing, it was great,” said Mrs. Anderson.
Mr. Anderson, who owned a business in Dallas, said he enjoyed the props used by the female dancers in An Early Spring. In a northeastern folk dance, the dancers twirl and toss sequined handkerchiefs that soar through the air, according to the program.
“It was nice, very educational, we don’t see that much here, it was very educational to see that,” Mr. Anderson said.
The ethnic and folk dances cover the vast expanse of China, and its many minority people, and through classical Chinese dance, Shen Yun tells stories from the 5,000 years of Chinese civilization.
“Classical Chinese dance has a long history of thousands of years, passed down continuously within the imperial palace and ancient Chinese theater and opera,” says Shen Yun’s website. “Soaking up profound wisdom from every era and dynasty, it has become a complete system of dance embodying traditional aesthetic principles with its unique dance movements, rhythms, and inner meaning.”
