SAN FRANCISCO—Artists and engineers, children and grandparents—when a performance displays the grandeur and splendor of 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture, all groups are drawn to it, as was the case when Shen Yun Performing Arts came to the San Francisco War Memorial Opera House. Civil engineer, Charlie Cavina, attended the afternoon show on Saturday, Jan. 7.
Mr. Cavina’s response was: “I liked it. I enjoyed the dancing and the music and the liveliness of it.”
He has never been to the Opera House to see a show, and he saw things in this performance that amazed him. He particularly enjoyed the dance Snowflakes Welcoming Spring, in which the dancers take small, quick steps through snowy fields as they skillfully spin and twirl sequined handkerchiefs.
“Somehow that got me–seeing the flowers, the way they made them look like they came alive and spun them around,” he said.
Mr. Cavina felt that the classical aspect of the performance was interesting, and the fact that there was a historical basis to the dances.
He said it was a great family experience for all ages. “I saw all ages here and I’m sure all ages could enjoy it.”
