A shelter-in-place was been ordered at the Capitol building in Washington, D.C. on Thursday after gunshots were fired in the area, but was lifted after the situation was over.
A message put on the televisions inside the capitol told people to take cover and move to the innermost location of the place they were.
It also said to close, lock, and stay away from external doors and windows.
Sen. Clair McCaskill said via Twitter that “we are in temporary lock down.”
Rep. Tulsi Gabbard said that she received instructions from capitol police to shelter-in-place.
Police were seen carting a person to an ambulance.
