Shaun Livingston, who suffered a horrific leg injury years ago similar to the one Paul George suffered on Friday night, says that George will be able to recover.

“I know people are in shock from Paul George’s injury. He will be able to bounce back because he has a warrior mentality,” Livingston said via Twitter.

George was injured during the Team USA scrimmage on August 1, which was being broadcast on ESPN. Many believed that George would have made the final squad if not for the injury.

“I said the same about Derrick Rose. They both have youth on their side and sometimes these injuries can make you a stronger individual than before. It forces your mind to will the body to a place it hasn’t experienced!” Livingston added.

Livingston suffered a severe knee injury in 2007. It required months of rehabilitation, and years of working hard to get back to being a good NBA player.

“I believe in Paul George and his recovery back to the top! 100,” Livingston added.

George himself took to Twitter several hours after the injury.

Thanks everybody for the love and support.. I‘ll be ok and be back better than ever!!! Love y’all!! #YoungTrece,” he said.

USA head coach Mike Krzyzewski said that George’s family is with him at the hospital as George undergoes surgery.

ESPN Medical Analyst Dr. Michael Kaplan said that George will be out for a minimum of nine to 12 months.
