South China Sharks lost for the second week in a row when Hong Kong Tycoons showed good form to take the sixth round match and close the gap on the former run-away leaders at Mega Ice on Saturday Nov 23.

The Tycoons made a big impression in the first period with goals from Drew Barton, Kory Falite and Andrew Alari, but a reply for the Sharks by Jordan So midway through the period kept the Sharks in the game.

Jamie Stark pulled the score back to 3-2 with a goal for the Sharks three minutes into the second period, but Tycoons piled on the pressure again with goals by Jim Fanstone, Brennan Sonne and a second goal by Falite to go 6-2 in the lead.

Sharks goalie Cody Drumm defended well and kept a clean sheet in the third period, while the forwards went on the attack. Another two goals by Jamie Stark brought up his hat-trick and the Sharks total to four, but the cushion built up by the Tycoons in Period-2 was sufficient to take the win 6-4.

Kowloon Warriors vs Macau Aces
Kowloon Warriors are still having a hard season with another tough match this time against the Macau Aces. After an even start, Andy Ramsay, with assistance from Devin Welsh and Gregory Smyth, put the Warriors in the lead with a score right at the end of the first period.

Warriors held their 1-0 lead in a scoreless, but confrontational, second period with a total of eight players sin binned, some twice and one (Darren Haynes) three times. There was a huge disruption nine minutes into the period when a scuffle broke out and play was stopped for some minutes.

The match settled down in the third period, but it was all Aces’ with great goal keeping by Korbinian Lutz and goals by David Kaye, Bernard Fung, Jeffrey Tai and Jeff Griffin giving the Aces a fine 4-1 win.
