HONG KONG—The CIHL league restarted last Saturday Jan 10 following the holiday break with matches between Macau Aces and Kowloon Warriors, and Hong Kong Tycoons against South China Sharks.
Aces vs Warriors
In the first match between Aces and Warriors, Benjamin Hockley and Yannick Wong got the Aces off to a good start scoring the only two goals of the 1st Period. Two goals by each side in Session-2 kept the Aces 2-goal advantage at the ice cleaning break to give a 4-2 scoreline with successful strikes by Whitney Olsen and Keith Tsang for Aces and by Leo Kan, and Andy Ramsay for the Warriors.
In the final Stanza, Warriors pushed hard, but could make no impression into the deficit. Aces converted twice through Alan Tsang and Keith Chan while Jake McDonnel added one for the Warriors making the final result 6-3 to Aces.
Tycoons vs Sharks
The Sharks lost out to the Tycoons in the last round before the end of year break losing 6-3, but it was a different story in last Saturday’s match. It was fairly even in Period-1 with two goals for Sharks (Jordan So and Jamie Stark) and one for Tycoons by Kory Falite.
In the second period Sharks produced 5-goals against 3-scores for the Tycoons opening up a 7-4 lead for the Sharks. The Sharks continued to maintain their edge in the final session scoring three times against the Tycoons two, giving a final result of 10-6 to the Sharks. Jordan So, Julien Jorand and Craig Falite each scored twice for the Sharks while Jamie Stark, Kevin Tersigni, Ronald Mathez and Craig Roessel added one each. For the Tycoons, Kory Falite picked up a hat-trick and Brad Smith, Anthony Devolz and Jonathan Szychta also got on the score sheet.
These results leave the Tycoons and Aces tied on 12-points, Sharks are on 10-points and Warriors are 4th on 7-points. This coming Saturday Jan 17, Sharks Play Warriors and Tycoons take on the Aces in a top of the table separator.
