Sharknado 2 is premiering on July 30 and fans of the franchise are wondering if there’s going to be a Sharknado 3.

It looks like there is. SyFy already has a page dedicated to the third movie, saying:

“Coming in Summer 2015, another city will be devoured by flying sharks when the new Original Movie Sharknado 3 premieres. But which city will it be……”

Ian Ziering, star of Sharknado 2, elaborated to Fox:

“They’ve green-lit Sharknado 3 if the numbers come back for Sharknado 2 in the 18-49 demographic. If they are anything like what I’m expecting, then SyFy will just make this a summer event,” he said.

“They’ve already green-lit Sharknado 3 and because it’s a television movie they can turn these around pretty quickly. It doesn’t make sense as a series, but as a summer event they’ll have a year of hype to build up to it and as long as the fans continue to want it… Syfy will continue to bring it.”

The cast for Sharknado 3 hasn’t been confirmed but if Ziering and Tara Reid survive Sharknado 2 they’ll likely be in it.

Plot details aren’t out yet either, and as mentioned above, the city has yet to be announced.
