Shannon Guess Richardson, a former actress in the “Vampire Diaries,” was charged with sending ricin-tainted letters to President Obama and New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, the Justice Department said Friday.

The Texas woman was arrested earlier this month.

Richardson faces a three-count indictment for sending out the letters, facing five years in prison for each charge, reported Reuters, citing U.S. Attorney John Bales of the Eastern District of Texas. She also sent a laced letter to Mark Glaze, the director of Mayors Against Illegal Guns.

“You will have to kill me and my family before you get my guns. Anyone wants to come to my house will get shot in the face,” part of the letters read.

Federal authorities said that Richardson mailed out the letters to try and pin the crime on her husband, Nathan Richardson, according to The Associated Press.

Officials determined that the letters were mailed from New Boston, Texas.

The FBI said that Richardson tried to implicate her husband in the scheme but she failed a polygraph test.

She had minor roles in several films and television shows, including the “Vampire Diaries” and “The Walking Dead.”
