An American Airlines flight heading to Shanghai hit a bird after takeoff and made an emergency landing at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport.

The bird strike took place when the plane encountered a flock of birds, according to ABC.

The captain then declared an emergency and was forced to return.

Fifteen crew members and 237 passengers were on the plane.

American Airlines spokesman Matt Miller said the emergency landing was done as a “precaution,” The Associated Press reported.
