Nothing stands in the way of Serena Williams when it comes to winning tennis tournaments—not even a stomachache as a result of consuming dog food.

Williams recounted the May 11 events that led to her eating dog food in a video on Snapchat, a decision spurred by food envy.

“So they have this menu for my dog. On this menu, they have soup and all this other good stuff,” said Williams. “Yesterday, he [dog] had the beef with chicken and vegetables, and I promise you, that looks so good. It was just perfection—looks better than my food.”

So the next day, the tennis ace decided to order salmon and rice for her dog with the intention to try some. After splitting the meal with Chip the dog, Williams eats a “spoonful.”

The results were dire.

“Fast forward two hours, I just ran to the toilet like I thought I was going to pass out. I mean, It did taste weird. I forced swallowed it...tasted kind of like house cleaner” said Williams who struggled to describe the taste. “I don’t know what they put in these dog foods, but Chip liked it and it looked good. But I don’t think it is consumable for humans.”

She added, “They should have wrote that! So now I feel really sick. It was just a spoonful, but I don’t feel so good.”

Throughout the video, Williams complains of feeling ill and appears to regret her decision.

“I mean what was I thinking,” she asks herself. “15 Euros for a soup; yesterday I paid 18 Euros for beef and chicken. And today I paid 15 Euros for that stuff that’s making me go to the bathroom.”

Williams, who had a match the following day against Christina McHale at the Italian Open was undeterred. She defeated McHale 7-6 (9-7) 6-1 and will face Svetlana Kuznetsova in the Quarter Finals.
