“I’m not running for president. It’s a privilege to represent the state of Missouri in the United States Senate,” Hawley said on “Fox News Primetime.”
I just got elected barely two years. There’s a lot of work to do and I look forward to continuing to fight for Missouri every day that I can,” he added.
Hawley defeated incumbent Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) in the 2018 election. He formerly served as Missouri’s attorney general.
Speculation on who will be running in the next presidential election started even before the 2020 election took place.
Potential Republican candidates include Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), former U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis.
Former President Donald Trump is also mulling another bid, an adviser recently said.
President Joe Biden is expected to run for another term but will likely face a slate of candidates. Already the oldest person to become president, Biden will be 82 when voters head to the polls in three years.
