See The Real Life People Who Inspired ‘The Simpsons’ Characters (Video)

TIME posted a video compilation of clips of real life people who were reportedly the inspiration behind the characters on “The Simpsons,” a popular American cartoon sitcom featuring the Simpson family. 

Here are some of the popular characters from the cartoon who were based on real-life characters that are also well known to the public. 

Joseph Quimby, the Mayor of Springfield was inspired by John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the 35th President of U.S.A.

Dredrick Tatum, Professional Boxer was inspired by Mike Tyson. 

Moe Szyslak, owner of “Moe’s Tavern” was inspired by standup comedian Rich Hall. 

Rainer Wolfecastle, actor and bodybuilder, was inspired by well-known bodybuilder Arnold Schwarzenegger. 

Clancy Wiggum, Springfield’s Chief of Police was inspired by actor Edward G. Robinson. 

Troy McClure, actor, was inspired by real-life actor Doug McClure. 

Itchy & Scratchy were inspired by none other than Tom & Jerry.
