Florida Sinkhole

A second sinkhole opened between two Tampa homes this morning according to Reuters.  The second sinkhole was located just a few miles from the one that swallowed Jeff Bush late last week.

According to Hillsborough County authorities the two sinkholes do not appear to be geologically related, Reuters reported.  Homes located near both sites have been evacuated as a precaution, according to NBC.

This latest sinkhole is much smaller than the one last week.  It is 5 feet deep in the center according to Reuters.  However, the appearance of two sinkholes so close together raises questions about the stability of the earth in the region.

The exploration and clean up efforts continue a the location of the first sinkhole, as authorities try to understand the phenomenon.
