The entire Seattle Seahawks and Tennessee Titans teams stayed in the locker room during the U.S. national anthem in a game on Sunday afternoon.
Seattle Seahawks General Manager John Schneider said that the organization had “a long team meeting” about comments made by President Donald Trump over national anthem protests, according to reports.
On Twitter, users reported that fans at the game booed when the teams came on the field in Tennessee.
“If a player wants the privilege of making millions of dollars in the NFL, or other leagues, he or she should not be allowed to disrespect our Great American Flag (or Country) and should stand for the National Anthem. If not, YOU'RE FIRED. Find something else to do!” he tweeted Saturday night.
On Sunday, he continued his assault on the league.
“NFL attendance and ratings are WAY DOWN. Boring games yes, but many stay away because they love our country. League should back U.S.,” he wrote.
At 2 p.m., after the first Sunday games started, he noted that there was “great solidarity for our national anthem.” He added: “Standing with locked arms is good, kneeling is not acceptable. Bad ratings!”
The protests started last season when former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick knelt during the anthem, prompting other players to follow his lead. Kaepernick doesn’t play for an NFL team, but a number of players have continued to sit or kneel during the anthem.
