In a competition against another guy pushing a lawn mower, the scythe-wielding grass cutter starts off slow but eventually is able to prevail.

Some YouTube commenters said the large scythe invoked the Grim Reaper. “That is One Huge Scythe. I don’t think I’ve seen one so huge. I’m guessing that’s the type that Death carries around,” says one YouTube user. Added another: “Wow. Take his robe off and the Grim Reaper is surprisingly buff.”

If you’re like me (hopefully you’re not), and you’re curious about the history of the scythe, the tool has been used for thousands of years. It was documented by the Romans, and there’s a piece of artwork dating to 850 AD that shows a peasant wielding a scythe.

It was invented in around 500 BC, but it appeared much later in Europe--probably in the Middle Ages.
