NEW YORK—Sen. Charles Schumer says credit bureaus are selling consumers’ personal information and not disclosing it to the consumers. The senator wrote a letter to Federal Trade Commission (FTC) Chairman Jon Leibowitz, asking him to investigate the reports being sold to other businesses, including Fair Isaac and Experian. According to The Associated Press, Experian says it has not seen the letter, and Fair Isaac Corp. says it is not a credit bureau. Medical information including consumers drug use is being sold to third party companies and Schumer said, like credit reports, consumers should be informed of information sold to other companies. Schumer says he will craft legislation if necessary.
