A celebrity who is widely remembered for her pop music stint in the 1990s spent May 14 in the emergency room.

Scary Spice Mel B, 43, confirmed she urgently needed medical treatment for blindness in her right eye and blurriness in her left eye at Moorfields Hospital in downtown London.

She said the emergency was an “awful experience,” despite some mainstream media reports playing down the severity of her eye condition.

“Even though the stupid press said I’m okay and this has happened to me many times before, just to be clear I was not okay and this has never ever happened to me before,” she wrote on Instagram. “I was actually in a lot of pain and very, very scared but, thanks to the incredible eye specialists in A&E at London’s Moorfields Hospital and after at Luton and Dunstable University Hospital, I was diagnosed by an eye specialist with severe iritis in my right eye and uveitis in my left eye.”
Mayo Clinic describes uveitis as a form of eye inflammation that can be caused by infection, injury, or an autoimmune or inflammatory disease, Fox News reported. Iritis is a specific type of uveitis that affects the front of the eye.

Mel B said her doctor has prescribed her heavy duty eye drops and other medication.

“I have to take [it] everyday to keep the inflammation under control,” she said. “I’m being so well looked after by Team Spice special thanks to our paramedics too.”

She is confident about her chances of making a full recovery in the next few months.

“I’m no longer worried that my condition will get worse. My only problem now is I have to find a very cool scary eye patch. Does anyone—apart from Madonna—know where I can get one ?” she said.

In November 2018, the Spice Girls excited fans with the news they would begin a reunion tour in Dublin, Ireland, on May 24. Posh Spice Victoria Beckham will not be joining them, though.

Fans welcomed the tour and were relieved to hear Mel B might still be performing.

“Absolute trooper. You are one woman who goes through thick and thin and still comes through it all standing. You deserve a medal Mel,” one wrote on Instagram. “Continue to knock ‘em dead. See you on [the] tour.”

“Madame B., good luck [on] Saturday,” another wrote. “[I] can wait for Spice World.”

Mel B was previously in the emergency room back in December 2018 after she hurt herself while falling down a set of stairs.
