Joe McGinniss, best-selling author of The Selling of the President 1968, is set to publish his book on former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin this summer.

McGinniss’ 240-page book, titled The Rogue: Search for the Real Sarah Palin, is slated for release on Sept. 20 on Amazon.com.

McGinniss, who has written true crime, non-fiction, and novels, signed a contract in 2009 with Broadway Books to write an unauthorized biography of Palin. To take his research to the next step, McGinniss moved next door to the Palins in Wasilla, Alaska in late May 2010 for about three months, according to The Associated Press.

Living in his rented house, McGinniss reportedly repulsed the Palins, leading husband Todd Palin to build a 14-foot fence between the properties.

“Here he is—about 15 feet away on the neighbor’s rented deck overlooking my children’s play area and my kitchen window,” Palin posted on her Facebook page last May.

“Wonder what kind of material he’ll gather while overlooking Piper’s bedroom, my little garden, and the family’s swimming hole?”

McGinnis wrote a not-too-flattering magazine profile in 2009 on Palin and her natural gas pipeline plans, and most recently, he has been accused of leaking a draft of an unpublished biography of Palin by Frank Bailey, a former aide to Palin.

Palin’s own memoir, American by Heart: Reflections on Family, Faith, and Flag was published on Nov. 23 following the success of her first memoir released in November 2009, Going Rogue: An American Life.
