Sara Carbonero and her partner, soccer player Iker Casillas, welcomed their first child into the world on Friday.
Carbonero, 29, is a television reporter. Casillas, 32, is a goalkeeper for Real Madrid and Spain’s national team.
“I want to share with you the most important and moving moment of my life: the birth of my son,” said Casillas, captain of Spain’s World Cup and double-Euro-winning national team, in a statement to fans.
The baby, Martin, weighed 3.85 pounds. Both Martin and his mother “are perfectly well and are now resting,” according to the statement.
The pair gained fame after Casillas kissed Carbonero live on air as she interviewed him after Spain’s win over the Netherlands in the 2010 World Cup, reported AFP.
