Oscar-winning actress Sandra Bullock has time and again shown us that she’s beautiful both inside and out. “America’s Sweetheart” has a very generous heart, as she has been quietly giving away big donations to various causes and people in need over the past decade.
Apparently, a study published in the November 2014 issue of Personality and Individual Differences has shown that being a “good person could make people perceive you as more attractive.”
Needless to say, this is true in the case of Sandra.
On being chosen as People’s World’s Most Beautiful Woman in 2015, Sandra told the publication, “Real beauty is quiet.” Her definition of beauty is simple—to be a good person.
Here is a look at Sandra’s history of generosity:
#1. California wildfire relief
In November 2018, Sandra donated a whopping sum of US$400,000 to the American Red Cross, as well as US$100,000 to the Humane Society of Ventura County, California, to fund relief efforts for the California wildfires, as per PEOPLE magazine.
“The untold destruction from these fires is heartbreaking, especially following the tragedy at Borderline in Thousand Oaks. I’m glad to be able to help. We’re all family in this, whether it be human, furry, or feathered,” Sandra said in a statement.
#2. Hurricane Harvey relief efforts
In August 2017, Sandra donated US$1 million to the American Red Cross toward Hurricane Harvey relief efforts in the Houston area and beyond.
“I’m just grateful I can do it,” Sandra said in a statement to E!News. “We have to take care of one another.”
“There are no politics in eight feet of water,” she added. “There are human beings in eight feet of water.”
#3. Earthquake and tsunami in Japan
Sandra is the first celebrity to donate funds in the wake of a catastrophic 9.0-magnitude earthquake that hit Japan on March 11, 2011. She donated US$1 million to the American Red Cross to aid earthquake and tsunami relief efforts.
#4. Haiti earthquake
In the aftermath of a magnitude-7.0 earthquake that struck Haiti on Jan. 12, 2010, Sandra contributed US$1 million to Doctors Without Borders’ emergency operation in Port-au-Prince.
#5. 9/11 attacks, Hurricane Katrina, tsunami in Indonesia
In response to the 9/11 attacks in 2001, the generous Sandra donated US$1 million to the American Red Cross. She also gave the same amount to the organization following the destructive tsunami that slammed into the coasts of Indonesia in 2004. In addition, she has reportedly contributed US$1 million to aid Hurricane Katrina relief efforts in 2005.
#6. Homeless Beverly Hills hotel’s pool manager, Svend Peterson
Other than disasters, Sandra has also been ready to help those in need.
In 2017, she offered US$5,000 to help out a Beverly Hills Hotel’s pool manager, Svend Peterson, who found himself homeless, sleeping in his car or motel, after landing in financial troubles three years prior.
#7. Warren Eason Charter High School
In 2005, Sandra made a donation of US$25,000 to help rebuild Warren Easton Charter High School in New Orleans, which was ravaged by Hurricane Katrina.
Since then, she has been silently supporting the school, from assisting in developing an on-campus health clinic, funding scholarships for graduating students, to participating in the school’s fundraiser in 2018, PEOPLE reported.
Sandra is undeniably one of the most beautiful Hollywood celebrities.
The saying “True beauty comes from within,” truly resonates with the kindhearted Sandra. Given her lovely personality, it is no wonder she has been dubbed as America’s Sweetheart.
