A San Francisco firefighter who was arrested after collision with motorcyclist while driving a fire truck was allegedly drunk, it was reported Monday.

The firefighter, 43-year-old Michael Quinn, was arrested on suspicion of a DUI and leaving the scene of an accident while he was driving the truck on Saturday night, police said, according to the San Francisco Appeal.

He was allegedly in the truck when it collided with a motorcyclist. The motorcycle rider was seriously injured but is expected to survive.

The truck was responding to an emergency at the intersection of 5th and Howard streets, according to the San Jose Mercury News.

The Appeal reported that he was no longer in police custody on Monday.

“We’re in the process of doing an internal investigation,” fire Lt. Mindy Talmadge told the San Francisco Examiner.

Quinn, who has been with the fire department for more than 20 years, was taken off-duty for the investigation.
